On October 15th 2017, thousands of people will come together to celebrate the festival of light… and of course, we can’t stay away!

With celebrations lasting a total of five days (yes, that’s right! FIVE!), Diwali celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. For most, the third day of Diwali is of the greatest significance, however some Indian communities like Gujarati’s, celebrate Diwali on the 4th day, as New Year’s Day. As the celebration of light, Diwali means houses are filled with oil lamps, flower rangolis, tealights and diyas. Traditionally, families and friends also dress in some of their finest clothing and come together to celebrate by setting off fireworks. As a festival cherished by Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains alike, Diwali on the Square is sure to be an amazing atmosphere filled with a variety of backgrounds and cultures, all united by the celebrations at hand.

Some would say Diwali on the Square is one of London’s most exciting and lively occasions of the year – and 2016’s event proves just that! Last year’s event showed an enormous turn-out, with masses of people taking over London’s Trafalgar Square to rejoice their love of light and of course, enjoy some of the best entertainment, food, music, and family friendly activities the English capital has to offer. 2017’s event promises to be another joyous occasion with all the attractions of last year plus some more added acts, such as: yoga, crafts, and henna art. An unmissable occasion!

And of course, we’ll be getting involved in the festivities on the day, so if you’re attending Diwali on the Square, come by the Lebara Mobile stand as we’ve got something special planned for you, including giveaway lanyards, power banks, selfie sticks, and more.
